  • Household linens by Tissage MOUTET

    Since 1919, the weaver Tissage MOUTET has been  manufacturing weaving Basque and jacquard household linens of high quality, in the Béarn region (south west of France). Initially, the Basque weaving is inspired by the cattle blanket (named ‘saïal’), a strong white cloth which protected animals from the sun and insects. Its 7 stripes design (often green and red) symbolized the seven Basque provinces. It was made in flax, this plant being widely cultivated in this region. It was then only a short step from using the cattle blanket material for the clothes and household linens…!
